Chinese threat to India

India is strengthening its border against China. In the last few months, specially after the uptick in the Maoist activity, China has acted a bit tough with India.

Those who know about the backdrop have known it for long – for example in books like “Deception”, these things are documented in detail.  What is significant however about this time is – it is in

  • China’s Game of Economic Deception

I got this in an email from a forum. I am not sure what the source is but the article is so good that I have to carry it verbatim for maximum impact. I have believed in this for long, finally someone else concurs with my own analysis – that China is, but a house of cards!

    ==============

Vital to the idea of a global recovery… is the idea that China, at
least, is still growing. And that, just maybe, they can help pull the
rest of us out of this crisis by our bootstraps.

Is that a real possibility? Not by a long shot. And if you’re placing
any faith in a whole new Asian miracle, I urge you right now to
reconsider. Especially if your wealth depends on it, as it might in
    more ways than you imagine.

Consider Detroit. It once looked like a global mecca for capitalism
and monument to progress, too. Have you seen it lately? It’s
    practically a ghost town.

Now imagine the world’s next industrial ghost towns and you might be
shocked to discover that they’re already turning up. But not in
America. Rather, in the Chinese provinces of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, or
    Dongguan.

  • Clashes in China with Uighur Muslims – 140 dead.. official figure

Clashes in China with Uighur Muslims – 140 dead.. official figure

China’s Xinjiang region has a lot of Muslims. They are known as Uighurs. China has suppressed these people. If some feel that the situation for Muslims in Kashmir and Palestine is bad, they probably haven’t even looked at Xinjiang. And why not! After all China is an abettor of Nuke proliferation and all that Pakistanis want in terms of arms is provided by China. So, if they were to utter any politically incorrect stuff aimed at their “time-tested friend”, then not only will they be left to fight for and with Uighurs against China.. but with NO SECURITY whatsoever against India and US!

So, Pakistan’s Islamic identity closes its eyes when it comes to China’s Muslims. They can be discriminated, subjugated, masacred and that’s all “Halal”.

Recently, there was a huge drama over the return of the Uighhurs released from Guantanamo. China didn’t accept the Muslims back even though US had said that they were harmless. Once tainted, a Muslim is of no use to Chinese. Even otherwise.

Now, there have been large scale clashes and violence in Xinjiang province and the death toll is 140. That’s the official number. For a Government that kills in Milliions and reports a few hundred, you can assume that the toll would have been MANY times over. Even its recent official contradictions reveal that pattern:

“Death toll in Xinjiang riot rises to 140, still climbing,” Xinhua reported in its latest dispatch, after initially saying only three had died.

  • China and India: Time to show nerves and give it back

China has recently been making repeated incursions into the Indian territory. The Chinese of course don’t call it incursion as they think that part of land is part of China anyways. Well, news for them.. we DONT! :)

Now, it seems, Indian Government has thought of putting some troops along the border to take care of those incursions. And the Chinese response.. some Sabre-rattling.

People’s Daily and its sister publication, the Global Times have come up with articles giving some piece of mind to India:

“India needs to consider whether or not it can afford the consequences of a potential confrontation with China,”

Whatever that means. Somehow China has grown in self importance for itself. For all the economic strength that it projects, its foundation is very brittle. I have repeatedly talked about the rather shaky foundation on which the so-called economic empire of China has been built and I see it falling on its own weight. It may not look obvious right now, but then no one could have predicted Enron or even AIG’s fall!

  • North Korean Missiles and Masochist Americans are Surprised!

North Korean Missiles and Masochist Americans are Surprised!

North Korea’s missile launch lately has been in the news. But North Korea’s missile indulgence has a “rich” past. A lot of it was encouraged by a certain masochist mindset on part of the US itself. Let’s go back to 1971 – just 10 weeks before the India-Pakistan war.

Foreign Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto signed an agreement with North Korea on September 18, 1971 just two and a half months before the outbreak of war with India to get conventional weapons from North Korea. At that time, Pakistan had no consular relations. For US Dollars (which Pakistan ostensibly got in US aid), Pakistan received Rocket Launchers and other ammunition under this September agreement.[2]

Over the years, Pakistan helped Pyongyang (as an intermediary) to supply arms to Iran and Libya. In fact during the Iran-Iraq war in 1980s, Iran’s principal supplier was North Korea. The arms would arrive in Karachi by sea and then sent by road via Balochistan to Iran on trucks. Over 100 Scud-B (known as the Hwasong 5 in North Korea) ballistic missiles and equipment for assembly were sent over.

  • Hillary’s Asia Visit and the lessons for India

HIllary Clinton’s visit somehow has gone un-noticed in the large Desi press, which is surprising. For, this visit revealed more than all the eloquence of Obama did.

It fundamentally underscores that the geo-political and economic considerations of post-Bush era may be pushing the Indo-US relationship on the back-burner. The countries visited were Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and China. All important countries (Indonesia for the Islamic relationship), but India was missing. And many commentators are pointing that out.

    Begging in China?

But it is not where she went that is of importance. But what she said. In China, you could see her almost servile statement bordering on begging the Chinese to keep the US treasuries in hand and not to “rock the boat”. This came at a time when the US Dollar is rising.. and is considered a “safe haven”. At least for now. If I were an investor, and listened to Hillary, I would start shorting the US Dollar. Because you don’t go to an investor to make a case for a “blue chip”. You make a case for a thing that is not really strong fundamentally.

This is one aspect. But it also speaks volumes of where that relationship between US and China may go towards. The “India as a China counterweight” policy is probably safely out of the window in the Obama echelons by now.

  • 70,000 Chinese factories close down – 20 mn migrants unemployed

“Going on the road to Sichuan is as hard as going to heaven.” says a Chinese Proverb. Well, it seems it was easy to be in heaven all these years – riding on the US economy and large household spending in the other countries… where the Chinese goods used to end up. Now, that is coming down.

Over the years owing to the manufacturing boom, 120 million farmers had migrated to the cities and were working as labor in the new factories. Now, 70,000 factories in China have closed down. And that means 20 million jobs have evaporated.

  • Indian religious, cultural and spiritual influences on China

China and India today may not be seen as friends and have fought a war in 1961, while China uses Pakistan to hit India.. the relationship goes back a long time. And it is amazing how the two cultures – oldest in the world – have affected and been affected by each other.

China finds several mentions in the Hindu Epic Mahabharat – a war in which Bhagwad Gita’s message was given to Arjun. Here are some examples:[1]

    1. Book 6, chapter 9(MBh.6.9) (mentioned as one of the Northern Kingdoms): Among the tribes of the north are the Mlecchas, and the Kruras, the Yavanas, the Chinas, the Kamvojas, the Darunas, and many Mleccha tribes; the Sukritvahas, the Kulatthas, the Hunas, and the Parasikas; the Ramanas, and the Dasamalikas.
    2. Pahlavas and the Daradas and the various tribes of the Kiratas and Yavanas and Sakas and the Harahunas and Chinas and Tukharas and the Sindhavas and the Jagudas and the Ramathas and the Mundas and the inhabitants of the kingdom of women and the Tanganas and the Kekayas and the Malavas and the inhabitants of Kasmira were mentioned at (3,51) as bringing tribute to Pandava king Yudhisthira.
    3. The Yavanas, the Kiratas, the Gandharvas (from Afghanistan), the Chinas, the Savaras, the Barbaras, the Sakas, the Tusharas, the Kankas, the Pathavas, the Andhras, the Madrakas, the Paundras, the Pulindas, the Ramathas, the Kamvojas were mentioned together as tribes beyond the kigdoms of Aryavarta. The Aryavarta kings had doubts on dealing with them. (12,64)
    4. Mahabharata book 3, chapter 176 (MBh 3.176): Leaving the place called Badari (Badrinath in Uttar Pradesh) and crossing the difficult Himalayan regions, and leaving behind them, the countries of China, Tukhara, Darada and all the climes of Kulinda, rich in heaps of jewels, those warlike men viz the Pandavas, reached the capital of Suvahu, the king of Pulindas (Kiratas). [Chinas was ostensibly located in the higher reaches of Himalayas as per the epic]
    5. Bhima mentiones about a China king Dhautamulaka, who caused the destruction of his own race (5,74)

    China’s Name – from Sanskrit?[2]

According to French art historian, Réné Grousset, the name China probably comes from its Sanskrit name for the regions to the North in the higher reaches of Himalayas.

Obama’s Innaugural Speech censored in China

Chinese keep their media under strict control. So, while the rest of the world was moved and excited about Obama’s innauguration and his speech, the Chinese media was looking for “Communist bloopers” from him. And as is their wont, any references to Communism and Silencing dissent were omitted. While the English version was not affected, the Chinese versions were edited as per the needs of the Communist Czars.

The areas which ran foul for the Chinese authorities were:

  • Chinese Great Leap and the story of the greatest human tragedy

In the Beijing Olympic’s opening ceremony, Mao’s name was never mentioned. Was it an oversight? Or was it deliberate?

Mao left a legacy that is barbaric and heartless. His Great Leap led to millions of deaths – anywhere from 36 to 70 million. There is a book by another Chinese – “Tombstone” – which catalogs the pain and suffering of that time. Tombstone because he considers the book to be the tombstone of his own father who died because of hunger at that time. The research he has done – interviews, access to official and government papers – is unprecedented.

And he is not really a dissident – in fact he was a reporter of Xinhua and also a member of the communist party for many years. Yang Jisheng has written from the eyewitness accounts of the normal people at that time. Needless to say its not pretty at all.

A combination of criminally bad policies (farmers were forced to make steel instead of growing crops; peasants were forced into unproductive communes) and official cruelty (China was grimly exporting grain at the time) created, between 1959 and 1961, one of the worst famines in recorded history.

  • Can something “real” from China please show up??

Can something “real” from China please show up??

We have all heard of the fakes from China… haven’t we?

    - Fake medicines
    - Fake brand name clothes and accessories
    - Fake electronics

The Olympics is the biggest even in 4 years, so one would think it is time for China to redeem itself!

Instead, we get the BIGGEST ever ticket scam – of truly Chinese proportions. So, even before the Olympics starts the scamming of the world has begun?

Well, at least the Opening ceremony was something just out of this world? That should have settled things once and for ever about the ingenuity and the creativity of the Chinese! :-) Well, it turns out that some – just some…. and enough for effects – of the extravagant fireworks of that Opening ceremony, now tells a Brit newspaper was…. yes… FAKED!!

  • China, Al Qaeda, Islamic terrorists, Pakistani Army – a mess unravelling

China, Al Qaeda, Islamic terrorists, Pakistani Army – a mess unravelling

World of terrorism knows no friends. And it is crazy as hell!

    Ok, figure this out:

China has virtually provided the nuclear and missile arms for Pakistan. Pakistan – through ISI and Army – has used Al Qaeda and other connected terrorist organizations to create a global monster. It has trained several to die in a religious war that seeks to create a society that they think they want.

The Pakistan, on the other hand, in response to getting the brownie points have tried to play US’ game for them. Right from introducing Kissinger to China to fighting their Afghan War against the Soviets. The fighters from the Afghan War became Pakistan’s force without the responsibility. It could plug-in and plug-out and do what it pleased. (For example, Saeed Sheikh, Daniel Pearl’s killer was ordered by Lt. General Mohd. Ahmad, second to General Musharraf in Pakistani Army, to wire USD 100k before 9-11).

Now, the Al Qaeda/Taliban/ISI/Pak Army combine is a machine which works on an ideological basis. So, here come Uijhurs of Xinjiang province in China. China can do what it feels helps it internationally for “Muslim Countries” but internally it does not really care for Minorities anyways! So, the Xinjiang province is a thorn in the skin of China.

Now, just as Chechens are fighting, so are Uijhurs. But as Chechens and other Muslim separatists have a legendary status in the Al-Qaeda folk lore, Uijhurs have had rather subdued help and support. But help they do.

Well, my guess is its something to do with skin color.

  • Olympics visitors’ laptops, PDAs, cell phones will be hacked by China

Olympics visitors’ laptops, PDAs, cell phones will be hacked by China

The level of impunity with which the Chinese Government goes about treating the world like dirt is amazing. I discussed in my last post how China is a major villain in Darfur. Now, here a news item in USA Today discusses how the electronic data of a security, political or business person visiting China for Olympics could be at risk of espionage!

The methods could be wide ranging:

    - pushing bugs or hacks through the cell toweror ISP while accessing data via PDA or internet through broadband or
    - when left in the hotel unmonitored.

The laptops and e-mail devices taken to the Beijing Olympics are likely to be penetrated by Chinese agents aiming to steal secrets or plant bugs to infiltrate U.S. computer networks. The stakes are high between US and China! I am not sure why the world would want to still appease Beijing by making it to the Olympics!!??

“There is a high likelihood — virtually 100% — that if an individual is of security, political, or business interest to Chinese … security services or high technology industries, their electronics can and will be tampered with or penetrated,” Wortzel says.

  • Genocide Olympics of 2008 in Bejing

Genocide Olympics of 2008 in Bejing

My friend Vishwajit sent this message – which I wanted to share. It is about the role of China in Darfur!

After watching the Frontline/PBS program on Darfur one feels disgusted with the UN and world governments including US and especially China – which supports the Sudanese govt (due to its oil investments in Sudan) and therefore vetoes all UN/International action to intervene in Darfur.

A small group of people including yesteryears’ actress Mia Farrow have asked that the 2008 Olympics be called the Genocide Olympics to highlight China’s support of the genocide. Her efforts and of people like her have resulted in indictments of genocide perpetrators in the Intl Court of Justice, even though world governments do nothing. The US president which would be Bush does not have the balls to stand up to China.

I ask your support in this cause.

  • India on the aggressive against China

China is out trying what it can politically and militarily to corner and hurt India. Well, we are a strange land and people. For many centuries our ideas ruled over the Chinese mind through Buddhism and now without sending a single soldier their way, we seemed to have attacked China. It is sad though because it is a great tragedy for the common Chinese poor, but look at how the earthquake unfolded….

The Indian mass is continually pushing against the Eurasian land mass such that the Himalayas grow higher and get pushed eastwards. When the plate on the east of Himalayas (the South China Plate) could not handle the stress anymore.. it gave way! For centuries it seems the Indian land mass, which was essentially the “new kid on the block” coming from South to join with the Eurasian landmass, has been pushing at its Northern friend… and creating mess and misery for the Chinese. No wonder that country just hates our guts and wits! :-)

Look at the self explanatory video below:

  • China wants to enter Indian territory to control it

In an “off-the-record” meeting, a Chinese official laid claim to an area in Northern Sikkim and threatened that China would demolish some construction there. The news reached India through official circles and India threatened back.

Referred to as the “Finger Area” by Indian armed forces, this territory falls north of Gyangyong in Sikkim and overlooks a strategically important valley known as the Sora Funnel. It contains several stone cairns, which are essentially heaps of stones that can be used for shelter. The area is in the northernmost tip of Sikkim, north of a place called Gyangyong, and appears like a protruding finger on the map — hence the name Finger Area.

It seems there might be some re-enforcements but it shows very clearly what the Chinese designs are! This time they told us.. what if they just did that – a la-Kargil? And this was during a peace meeting with China! The history of peaceful dialog with China has such predictable results – of its ominous actions – that I find it nuts that we should even attempt to enter into one!!

Lets just face it – the Chinese have had this complex from centuries and was most clearly expressed by one of its Ambassadors:

India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border.

    ~ Hu Shih

  • Underground Nuke Subamrine base and Nuke Missile Deployment by China may be against India and/or Russia & US

Underground Nuke Subamrine base and Nuke Missile Deployment by China may be against India and/or Russia & US

China has no friends. And there is nothing that they align themselves with. They can hit anyone they feel will help them. Pakistan is also one of those states that they are using. IN fact that is how the global state diplomacy works.

China has gotten a lot a lot of weapons and nuclear help from USSR and Russia over the years. In fact Michael Levin, in a recent book “The Next Great Clash” he surmises that China will align with Russia against the US.

A recent set of satellite pictures however show that China has 58 launch pads for nuclear capable missiles spread over a 2,000 sq km deployment area near Delingha and Da Qaidam in the northern parts of Qinghai province (see the map . DaQaidam . Delingha . the pads). These missiles are aimed at Russia and India. Primarily the target is India. Here are some more details.

The 58 launch pads include four basic designs: a 70-meter full circle; a 40-meter T-shape, a 15-45 meter rectangular, and a 30-meter pull-out (see Figure 3). The 15-meter rectangular is by far the most common design. There are two full circle pads and four T-shape pads.

The large circular pads are probably older designs for the liquid-fuel DF-3 and DF-4, which require a large number of fuel trucks on the pad until shortly before launch. The liquid-fuel missiles are now being phased out and replaced with the solid-fuel DF-21 and DF-31, which require fewer support vehicles. The DF-31 has not been reported in the Delingha and Da Qaidam areas, but its smaller predecessor the DF-21 has deployed there for several years and can be launched from the small 15-meter pads. Two of the pads in Figure 3 show what are estimated to be DF-21 launchers, a 2006 deployment previously described here.

  • The Next Great Clash: Interview with Michael Levin

I very rarely find a book that I cannot keep down, specially when it comes to politics. This book by Michael Levin is a revelation. Not many analysts really do serious research before writing. Levin is different. He is a serious analyst who has had long stints in Soviet Union/Russia and China and he is currently Executive-in-Residence at the Thunderbird School of Global
    Management.

The Introduction to the book starts in the most thoughtful manner. It is so gripping that you start believing in the power of book introductions once again – an art that had long vanished! He discusses his tough childhood and fight with disease as well as his struggle to learn about Russia and his success after some aimless times.

I love Levin’s expression as it is profound although it talks of some mundane things like global politics. Like he says:

“Reading is the collecting of intellectual income, writing is the spreading of it”

He uses a lot of research and models of other researchers to test his conclusions that are based on his experience and knowledge.

Overall, a great book to read! Here is an interview with Michael Levin, the author.

    1. You have talked of “One Radical Imbalance (American Debt) sustains another (Asian Surplus)”. Just as the “rich” in the US are betting, foolishly, on a never ending stream of debt; arent the Chinese, again foolishly, betting on unending stream of export wealth? And while talking of the aging US (and Western) population, we forget the same trend for China as well. So two questions:

    (a) is this a game of “who blinks first?” between US and China and – in that sense – a repeat of the Star Wars tactic to destroy Soviet Union under its own weight?
    (b) Is the Chinese “surplus” a notional surplus – since its invested in an instrument that it can best see ride down as the class with US increases?

Two things to keep in mind: if there is an economic
break between the US and china, china has an ace in
the hole: it can divert its attention to satisfying
the demand of its domestic consumers as a replacement
for export-led growth. The US seems to be at a
disadvantage – it does not have an ace in the hole…

  • China attacks India!

Contrary to all beliefs, India is being attacked by China as we speak!

This is not just the age of Nuclear or bomb warfare but intellectual and computer (internet) warfare. And China is doing all it can to hit India where it can! Attacks on National Infomatics Center (NIC) – which was really targeted at National Security Council and Ministry of External Affairs were recorded in the last few months.

Several other sites are targeted regularly.

Its not as if India cannot do such damage – it can.. the only issue is that our IT folks in the Government babudom are severely underpaid and the private hackers do not really get into all this as yet. The Chinese hackers – ostensibly backed by their Government – are very active and vicious. And Chinese have really mastered the way to handle the accessibility to the internet in their country thanks to their zeal with censorship. Still, their defenses are not that great.

  • Who gets to keep the “Cream” in China?

A decade from now, which country will boast of the maximum billionaires in the world? Forbes readers voted like this:

    India: 53%
    China: 20%
    US: 17%

Now, this is a very strange statistic as is the number of current billionaires from India. Now, billionaires is never a good statistic to go by for assessing the prosperity of a country – indeed it shows the disparities more than distribution of wealth! Yet, the RATE of GROWTH does shows a certain element of Freedom that is available to Private Enterprise. That the system provides an opportunity to even the poorest and the common people to aim for the top. In India this has happened in many cases. Reliance is a legend, then Infosys, T-series etc. All were first generation not terribly rich people and all with completely different backgrounds!

It is understandable that Chinese economy will beat the Indian economy on the whole. But why should it produce less spectacular successes than India? Its not as if Chinese economy has any lesser disparities than India has.. its equal or more. Then where is the DELTA?? Who gets to eat the “CREAM” in the Chinese Economic Churning?

I feel, ONE, there is very little cream being created! Second, most of it is virtual anyways as someone with the official wand decides who produces what and where the surplus goes to. So does such an economy lend itself to longer term success? I am positive NO!

    What do you think?

  • Now a Chinese train link to Nepal!?

Something that is of SUCH a huge ramification finds mention in this article somewhere deep inside Times of India! One day we will rue our apathy to these advancements of Chinese to encircle India. After creating a Vassal state out of Pakistan (which raises hell for Muslims in Kashmir and elsewhere but finds nothing wrong with ill-treatment in China’s troubled province) and forging ties with Myanmar, and annexing Tibet while also building a road to completely annihilate its culture and religion, it has now moved into Nepal by proxy – as the Maoists take over! Worse, it is extending the same train line that it built to Tibet .. all the way to Nepal!!

The rail link with China could help Nepal reduce its heavy dependence on its giant southern neighbour India for everything from oil to motor parts and medicines. Ai Ping, director general of China’s international department, met Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Friday and told him that the rail link would bolster their diplomatic and trade ties, officials said.

“They discussed the benefits of the project,” Basanta Gautam, special secretary in Koirala’s office, said. “The railway link should be complete in five years.”

  • China now copies the Russian Fighter Jet Su-27SK

You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. But you cannot fool all of the people all of the time!

China has been copying everything in the world – brand name clothes, technology, cars etc. The original owners of patents keep mum because of the “huge” market in China that they want to target. Its a big price that the world is paying for it.. but still it keeps going on.

Now, China has taken the Art of Copying to a new level! They have copied a complete FIGHTER PLANE! China’s J11 is a copy of Russia’s Su-27SK! Russia has vowed to sue China for protection of its IP.

Under the 1996 agreement, China had the right to assemble 200 Su-27SK fighters under the local brand J11. However, after receiving 95 kits and 180 AL31F engines Beijing in November 2004 notified Moscow that it no more needs Russian kits for the assembly of Su-27 fighters

  • Parallel Torch Relay in Delhi

The Olympic rings for Beijing represent Torture, Murder, Execution, Pain and Agony for the Tibetans under the Chinese rule.

A parallel relay will be run by the Tibetans on the streets of Delhi just 2 km away from the Olympic one. Arundhati Roy and George Fernandes – the most unlikely of pairs (one, a Defense Minister during Nuclear Tests and other the harshest critic of the tests) are going to participate in the relay.

  • Chinese Brutality when Tibet was invaded

Here are snippets from when China invaded Tibet. Do you see how peaceful monks are being beaten? It is said that when any power hurts the enlightened beings and goes around killing them, its end is not too far. Mughal empire crashed soon after Aurangzeb. Irrespective of how powerful China seems today, it is my firm conviction that its economy is a house of cards. And end of its economy is not too far. Look at this and then look at the comments of that Indian commie on this site below about his allegiance to Chinese and toeing their line on Tibet. Makes you ashamed but also brings out the real barbarian and fascist nature of these Indian Communists.

  • How Chinese Communist Party dressed as Tibetans started the recent riots!

Here is another video where the British intelligence in Beijing has confirmed that Beijing used Chinese party officials dressed as Tibetan Monks to start riot that killed several Tibetans ultimately – just to discredit the Tibetans’ movement.

The G2 Bulletin has just published an important update on the situation in Tibet. Britain’s GCHQ monitors half the world from space. They have confirmed the Dalai Lama’s claim that CCP agents are posed as monks, and triggered riots that have left hundreds of Tibetans dead or injured. GCHQ analysts believe the Beijing leadership is behind the large riots as a way to provide an excuse to stamp out the simmering unrest in the region. The same has been confirmed by British intelligence officers in Beijing. Satellites orbiting the earth closely monitored the situation. The images they downloaded from the satellites provided confirmation the CCP used agent provocateurs to start riots.

I will bring a series of posts on the Brutality of the Chinese in the next few months to showcase the “Beijing Butchers” – the brutality by the Chinese authorities. Here is on this visit that Chinese choreographed for the foreign journalists and how somewhere in the middle it went all wrong. Rude, Chinese police thugs in London to “protect” torch
