What is the end game here??
From the way things are going, we will end up more deep in the hole. Look at how the odds are staked against us- we helped do that in the first place. The first knee jerk reaction was to ask for the ISI chief to be sent to India. Pakistan at the end of the day is a separate country- it was but obvious that with the finger pointing towards them, the domestic constituency including the general public and more importantly the defacto power centers- the army and the ISI could not let this happen. So India was snubbed, when Pakistan said it would not send the Che if.

New Pak Army, ISI connections but Hawala and Dawood keep going on
It is now becoming clear that more and more links to Pakistan Army and ISI are coming up. This time, however, more links are being unearthed by the US officials. Chairman of US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen and Condelezza Rice have been to Pakistan and impressed upon the leadership of the country to “do more” with regards to the terrorists.
The people whom Kasab, the surviving killer has been naming are second Lashkar-e-Taiba military commander who helped engineer the attacks was Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi apart from several retired Pak Army people.
Meanwhile, Indian and American intelligence officials have already identified another Lashkar-e-Taiba operative, Yusuf Muzammil, as a mastermind of the attacks, and said he was in contact by satellite phone with the attackers during their journey.
Also Musharraf has made his first remark on the issue of terror and Pak Govt., and it was pretty surprising one:
“Well, you know if you don’t fight terror and make sure everybody knows how strong you feel about it, you may have problems with other countries like America. And yes – now the situation with India,” the former military ruler said in an interview in London, where he is on a private visit.
Asked if the tension between India and Pakistan would not have occurred if the current Pakistani administration had made it clear how strong it is about fighting terrorism, Musharraf told interviewer Daphne Barak: “You said it.”

We are all victims of Political Correctness.
A deeper analysis of what happened in Mumbai the last few days as also all the other terror events that have plagued India for the last 3 decades points to a stark reality- that it is notion of “political correctness” that has helped the menace grow. We as a nation have always put up this facade of always being polite and politically correct. We do not want to look at the terrorist in the eye and take decisive action- for that would amount to be not politically correct.

Why do our TV channels interview ex ISI chiefs???
I switched on the TV to a English news channel- Times now, in my opinion among the more credible ones in operation. And surprise, surprise there was an interview going on between the anchor and guess whom- a ex chief of the Pakistani ISI. Now these media guys should have some decency and sense of responsibility- when you are interviewing the ISI it is as good as interviewing the captured terrorist. I do not see any distinction between the two. The question being asked is does the media house believe with a hand on its heart that there is a distinction between the ISI and the terrorists?

Terror Email of so-called Deccan Mujahideen traced to Lahore (#mumbai)
US intelligence services have worked with the Indian intelligence agencies to track the email of the so-called Deccan Mujahideen to Lahore.
The IP address was traced to Lahore from where the email originated and was sent using relay servers in Russia. It is apparent that now more and more evidence will come forth to nail the Pakistani lie!

Muslim Body of Mumbai refuses burial to 9 killers (#mumbai)
We know that Pakistan is making it out as if the entire Mumbai Attack was an “internal affair” done by “dejected Muslims”. Well, same so-called “marginalized Muslims” have at this time refused to bury the 9 killers in any of the Muslim cemetery. And these guys are saying that they are contacting other Muslim organizations to not let these guys get a burial on Indian soil.
The Muslim Council on Sunday decided not to allow burial of the bodies of the nine terrorists killed during the Mumbai siege in the Marine Lines Bada Qabrastan (cemetery).
The council said it was trying to send a message to all cemeteries in India that none of the bodies should be buried on Indian soil.

Bravery of the Commandos and the Soldiers
We all need to understand that the bravery of all the people- the police,
the NSG, MARCOS, the Army etc etc needs to be saluted. But in
the process of saluting the bravery of these men and women, we should
not forget to highlight the total ill preparedness of the forces- and
for that matter even of what we call the elite special service forces-
the NSG and MARCOS. In my opinion these forces went into the action as
if fighting a urban war and not a rescue or hostage situation. Do not
get me wrong. The bravery is applauded, not the tactics. -
Mumbai Attacks: A Complete Analysis of What was, is and what should be!
William Webster, who had come from the FBI to become the new CIA director after Bill Casey’s death in May 1987, vowed to straighten out an agency tarnished by its reputation for deceit. Webster turned up the temperature on Pakistan by showing Bhutto exactly what the US knew about Islamabad’s nuclear program, including a mock up bomb. Bhutto recalled: “It was daunting. On 29th December 1993, when the Benazir Bhutto flew into Pyongyang, with a series of CDs with Nuclear warhead designs in her overcoat to give to Kim-Il-sung, the wind had changed directions. The answer to the question of Pakistan’s perfidy with respect to the Nuclear Weapons had not – Benazir was still to say “No Pakistan does not”.
Politicians in Pakistan learn to toe the line of Pakistan Army and ISI. So, when a politician in Pakistan says “No, Pakistan does not” – it means two things:
- He/she does not know because the Pakistan Army and/or ISI has kept it in dark (and away from the politician), or
- He cannot say because that is the ONLY way for him/her to survive.And to the outside world, it essentially means nothing!
As India handed over the 3 bodies of Pakistani Army soldiers who had infiltrated in Kargil . Pakistan denied any link to Kargil infiltration and Information Minister, Mushahid Hussain, told the BBC that the three men were on a routine patrol on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control when they were ambushed by Indian forces.
The Pakistani denial went on through out the conflict. Later on pressure from Bill Clinton and Pakistani Army’s capitulation on the ground, and loss of face for Pakistan, the hitherto called infiltrators were called back. The coup and the bickering between Nawaz Sharif and Musharraf into who sent the Pakistani Army to Kargil is now well known.
This was and would not be the first time that Pakistan, its establishment and its Army point blank denied any claims or involvement in any act of war on India. They follow a template created in 1948 by the founders of the nation, when the Pakistani regular soldiers dressed as tribals started attacking the THEN independent Kingdom of Kashmir.
Pakistan and its establishment has done an encore on the Mumbai attacks.

They were heavily drugged and started from Rawalpindi (#mumbai)
The terrorists included two UK-born Pakistanis and one was a Yemeni national. They were heavily drugged and used Blackberry to communicate. The group numbering 12 travelled from Rawalpindi to Karachi and them from Karachi to Mumbai.
The Anti-terrorism squad (ATS) now believes that Dawood Ibrahim was involved in this attack as well.

I had written of the idiocy of the media and specially the nonsense that Barkha Dutt, in particular and NDTV in general was dishing out! There was this defining moment, among other things, that made many mad! This guy, whose wife was caught inside was asked – “Aapko Kaisa lag raha hai?” (How are you feeling). I am not sure what that guy replied.. but its a pity that I wasn’t there. Here goes the imaginary dialog that would have occured if I was there.. needless to say it would have been rather short-lived one..
Barkha Dutt (in excited and pumped up tone).. SIR.. we heard you wife is inside.. a hostage?.. Aapko kaisa lag raha hai? How are you feeling?

One guy caught.. now talking like a canary
Here are startling things that are coming out:
Use of Google Earth and preparation of Mohammad Ajmal Mohammad Amin Kasab – who killed Hemant Karkare, encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar and Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte.
According to a Mumbai crime branch official, the ten terrorists had not come to Mumbai before this to conduct any ‘recce’ and they had learnt about the locations with the help of Google Earth.
The police are still verifying as to how the blast in suburban Vile Parle and Dockyard Road in south Mumbai was executed and if the terrorist had received help from any local group.
This guy who has been caught has been speaking.. the Mumbai Mirror has been reporting.. here is a dosser on him:
…21 years old, speaking fluent English, and hailing from Gipalpura in Faridkot in Pakistan.
The newspaper says this terrorist, after being shot in the hand, pretended to be dead but was found out on the way to hospital and was promptly arrested.
He was initially tight-lipped but cracked up on seeing the mutilated body of the other terrorist and cried out, ‘I do not want to die, please put me on saline.’
Ammunition, a satellite phone and a layout plan of CST station were recovered from the terrorist, who is said to be singing like a canary in custody.

Blessing of the Traffic Jam and How Indian Media helped Terrorists planning (#mumbai)
India Today reports that the Mumbai attack has been most amazing in terms of its precision and perfect planning.
The taxi that blew up in Bombay/Mumbai was really meant for the airport! It had enough ammunition to bring down a dome. The driver of the taxi, FORTUNATELY, did take a shorter route of a slip road but instead went onto a flyover and got stuck in the red light.
The passengers of the taxi were very angry.. they wanted the driver to cut through the red light.. and made him move through it.. which he did. But that precious wait at the red light proved to be very serendipitous for many.
The taxi blast was planned to coincide with the attacks on Taj and Oberoi! Such was the perfection in planning.
It seems that more than two dozen or so terrorists had support of “field officers” who had mingled in the crowd and reporting to the main protagonists.

How should India Retaliate?
Many things are very clear from the Mumbai attacks:
1. Terrorists came from International waters
2. They were prepared like commandos of an Army
3. 30-40 of them is like a platoon (with sophisticated equipment) of a foreign Army attacking Bombay in broad daylight
4. They FIRST asked for US and UK nationals.
5. When asked about their “demands” during their interview with the TV station.. they clearly FUMBLE despite having hostages!!
6. They are unmistake-ably Punjabis… with clear Lahori accent and vocabulary
7. When interviewed they have started talking of India’s internal religious tensions as the “reason” for their “taking to arms”.What needs to be done CLEARLY:
1. Stay away from it being characterized as a religious attack.. although by bring Babri Masjid and Gujarat .. that is precisely what these terrorists want us to do.
2. Not get into the endless loop of the counter arguments of terrorist laws or otherwise in India. They are required.. but this is FAR MORE than that!!
3. Remain calm and not raise the religious tension and temperature – that is precisely what they want us to do.
4. Involve Israelis and US officials to discuss what could be ways of joint collaboration and also finding out what is the SOURCE of it all?!But these are tactical and short term things… what would be INDIA’S RESPONSE?? How should India retaliate and HIT BACK?? And most importantly WHERE and WHOM? Because the least we want is India doing an “Iraq”!! It should be a decision taken by the brain and not by the dick as Iraq was!

Two Pakistani vessels caught in Indian sea (#mumbai)
Two Pakistani merchant vessels have been apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard and Navy personnel
The Indian ships apprehended both the cargo ships, which were identified as MV Alpha and MV Al Kabir. Officers of the three forces were ascertaining the credentials of the crew on board the two ships, sources added.
They were caught near the Gujarat coast as they were going towards Karachi.

How the Attacks were planned and executed (#mumbai)
Ok, now the Union Government is getting some information. And it is going to do the same thing.. keep debating along with the Human Rights lobby and the others on how this was an attack motivated by religion, Babri Masjid, Shivaji, Rana Pratap or whoever.. You know we are idiots if we don’t get it straight! I don’t want to call it a terrorist attack because that diminishes its seriousness. No terrorist organization can do what was done here.
Terrorists who struck Mumbai had set up advance “Control Rooms” in the luxury Taj and Trident Oberoi hotels which was also targeted and did prior reconnaisance executing plans worked “over months”, Union Cabinet minister Kapil Sibal said on Thursday night.
Sibal said the unprecedented terror attack in the country’s financial capital was planned “over months” and the terrorists were not carrying AK-47 rifles but sophisticated weapons like MP-6.

Taj Hotel GM’s wife and three children killed…
Indian Navy looking for “Mother Ship”: Indian Navy and Coast Guards on Thursday pressed into service warships and surveillance aircraft to scour the high seas in and around Mumbai to look for ‘Mother Ship’ which could have ferried the terrorists who carried out attacks in this metropolis.
The Coast Guard have located a suspected Terrorist ship MV Alpha.
M V Alpha, a ship which is suspected to have carried the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks, was today found 112 km from here by the Coast Guard, officials said. A CG spokesman said that searches were being carried out on board the ship but declined to elaborate. The Coast Guard had launched two aircraft, choppers and its vessels after receiving information that the ship could have carried the terrorists from Gujarat to Mumbai.

Just listen to the terrorist and you know clearly that the two guys who are talking.. one is VERY clearly a Punjabi from Pakistan (he in fact asks the other guy “Kee Maang hai”) and then the other one is clearly from the North West Frontier province or Afghani kind of person. So, Deccan they definitely are NOT!
And the rhetoric is the same.. Babri Masjid and all.. Its been ages since that happened.. and if it still remains an issue.. then the Hindus could make it an even bigger issue on that!! Where will the fight end?

top police official claimed. “This intelligence was available six months ago and subsequently a barge was found by the locals on Shrivardhan coast in Raigad district four months back,” the official, who did not wish to be identified, said.********The Mumbai attack terrorists could have been Pakistani nationals. This was revealed by authorities:
“There are indications that the perpetrators of the crime, who arrived in Mumbai by boats, are Pakistani nationals,” authoritative sources said. The indications are based on information gathered from captured terrorists, the sources said.

Terrible Terrorist attacks are underway in Mumbai!! (will keep on updating..)Terrorists have attacks several sites and are reportedly going around in cars and shooting at random.. until last take ~ 55 people have been killed (200 injured). Aaman at Desicritics lists the sites:
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal of the Railway Statiion, a taxi blast in Vile Parle, and at the Taj Mahal and Trident Hotels. Trains on the central line have been stopped. Other sites of the attacks include Mazgaon, Leopold’s Pub, Metro Junction, Crawford Market and at Colaba. A BP petrol pump has experienced an explosion in Colaba.
The terrorists have grenades and AK47. The terrorists are reportedly in their 20s and may have about 15 people in their custody – (one person saw the gunmen taking about 15 people as hostage)
Firing is still on in Taj, Marriott and Oberoi hotels.
The reporter at CNN says that there were gunmen in Taj Palace. There are also firings in Ramada Hotel now in North Mumbai!!

Blasts in Assam – same politics . same apathy for citizens
The Indian Government is a complete failure when it comes to Internal national security! Yesterday, in as many as 11 bomb blasts 48 people were killed and 300 injured in Assam! In Guwahati (Ganeshguri area, Panbazar, Fancy Bazar and Paltan Bazar) alone 25 people were killed at least! 11 people were killed in three explosions in Kokrajhar district, 12 in Barpeta district.
All the blasts happened within an hour and began around 11.20 am.
While so many lives were lost, the politicians use the same platitudes:
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said: “This is an act of cowardice and we shall deal with the situation firmly. A red alert has been sounded across the state. It is a designed and planned attack carried out to spread terror,” he said.
Same words, same sentences that one has been hearing since the 1980s! No change. Everything happens after the fact.

Indian Mujahideen techie turns approver
Now, the Yahoo employee – Mohammed Mansoor Asghar Peerbhoy – who was the brain behind the hacking and sending of emails prior to the Delhi and Ahmedabad bomb blasts is turning approver.
Rakesh Maria, Joint Commissioner Mumbai police confirmed that Mansoor Peerbhoy has filed an application in the MCOCA court indicating that he wants to turn an approver and help the police build a case against other accused.
At least this will help Peerbhoy to save some of his skin and also help the Police get the information out on Indian Mujahideens to get their infrastructure neutralized!

Frail and bespectacled, Peerbhoy, whose one brother is a chest specialist in UK and another an architect, was not bothered by his arrest or the punishment earlier. He showed no remorse for all the mayhem that he and his colleagues had indulged in.

Kashmiri militants are terrorists: says Zardari
This has got to be a first! From the inception of Pakistan, when in 1948 Army regulars were used with tribals to try and annex Kashmir from Raja Hari Singh, which drove him to come to India, using people from outside Kashmir as a strategy has been the central piece of the “Kashmir policy”.
India on its side has messed up the rule there trying to bolster the sycophants like Farooq Abdullah etc but it is a fact that Pakistani Army has used terrorism as a strategy. Zia-ul-Haq called it “Strategic Depth”.
Asif Ali Zardari has, in an interview with Wall Street Journal, finally called the militants in Kashmir as what they are – “Terrorists”! Not only that, he expressly differed from the word that Musharraf has used all the while – “Freedom Fighters”.
Zardari also did not seem to have any fear of the Indo-US Nuke deal.

Delhi Terror: Police officer dies, terrorist caught giving interviews to media, and everyone is “innocent”!
The terror situation in India gets weirder by the day!Delhi Police worked on a confirmed piece of intelligence that the masterminds of Delhi bomb blasts were hold up in a house in Jamia Nagar. Mohan Chand Sharma – a decorated Delhi officer led the assault against them.
They killed one guy Atiq, one was arrested (Mohd. Saif) and two managed to escape – and in the battle the decorated police officer died as well due to bullets in his abdomen, thighs and right arm.
The inspector who was bleeding profusely was rushed to the nearby Holy Family hospital where he was operated upon and later put on life support systems. After battling with his severe injuries for nearly eight hours, he was declared dead at seven in the evening.
Two things after this:
First, Zeeshan, an accomplice of these guys was meanwhile making rounds of the TV channels giving interviews when he was arrested!

How the Central Government and UP State Government HELPED terrorists bomb A’bad, Jaipur, and Delhi!
Given what is clearly and easily available to a guy sitting 10,000 miles away from India, I am amazed that there is NO discussion or outrage of substance going on in India – EVEN amongst the educated! If this is how we are going to accept our “fate” and rejoice our ignorance – then we might as well start writing obituaries for our kids as well! Any one wants to volunteer?
I had talked of the pusillanimity of the Indian government authorities in dealing with terrorism. Now, there is proof that indeed Indian state governments are ACTUALLY helping the terrorists and helping them remain active due to a consistent appeasement policy!
There is now evidence that the UP authorities had clearly obstructed the arrests of three SIMI terrorists who are now emerging as the central players in the serial bombing in Delhi.
These three had ALREADY been identified by two other top terrorists leaders held in UP earlier this month. (Remember, that Modi had given specific intelligence to the PM and his Home Minister/National Security Adviser duo on Delhi to be the next target in Operation BAD).
These three men had been identified by Shahbaz Hussain and Abul Bashar Qasmi (the same guy, who is being now touted as an “innocent” by the pseudo-secular brigade)! In fact, NDTV actually had a news article “Not enough evidence against SIMI?” – where it gave quotes from people who thought that Qasmi was even innocent!
This kind of masochism just sickens one who can clearly see a motive to hit India from inside and through its own “intellectuals”!
Both Qasmi and Husain told their interrogators that the three Azamgarh men had met with Abdul Subhan Qureshi, a top Mumbai-based SIMI operative, who is thought to have taught dozens of Indian Mujahideen operatives their bomb-making skills and authored the organisation’s e-mail manifestos. Qureshi, they said, had visited Azamgarh at least twice in August, soon after the Ahmedabad bombings, to discuss future attacks. New Delhi was chosen as a target during these meetings.
This is how specific the intelligence input had gotten to!! And in the two weeks or so of having this kind of intelligence, the Government kept sitting and doing nothing!
Why? because of the ABSOLUTE appeasement policy and complete pussies we have in our government machinery! Here is the reason why?
Evidence on the central role of SIMI’s Uttar Pradesh networks in the Indian Mujahideen’s operations began to emerge in the course of the investigation into the December 2007 synchronised bombing of trial court buildings at Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi. Police learned that Jaunpur-based Mohammad Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Kazmi, using explosives provided by Jammu and Kashmir Harkat ul-Jihad-e-Islami commander Bashir Mir, had coordinated the trial court bombings.

Modi had warned.. was the PM Singh waiting for a call from terrorists??!
.. to their credit.. at least the terrorists sent an email.. oh.. well they got late by a few hours maybe.. But they gave the clues all over!
Soon after the Ahmedabad blasts, a call was made allegedly from Sabarmati jail in Gujarat to Pakistan. The conversation was intercepted by the IB. The person who made the call (not named as it may hamper probe) told a person in Pakistan, Operation BAD had been successful.
Based on this intercept, the IB and the Gujarat police decoded the message and came to the conclusion that BAD stood for Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
Gujarat Narendra Modi claimed that during his meeting with the Prime Minister, Home Minister and the National Security advisor he had warned them that investigations had revealed that Delhi would be the next target.
And then, Modi did do his part to tell the PM, his Home Minister and the NSA about it.
“About 10 days ago, Modi told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and National Security Adviser (NSA) M.K. Narayanan in Delhi that interrogation of the accused involved in the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts had revealed similar serial blasts were planned to take place in the national capital,”
Says, LK Advani! So, even if the terrorists phoned Dr. Manmohan Singh and his bunch of jokers – the Home Minister and National Security Advisor… they still would not have done anything! If at all, Dr. Singh has demonstrated that he is adept at rattling against the BJP – without much provocation at times – and has NO plan whatsoever on India’s internal security!
Heck, even the terrorists know this and have been MOCKING .. really, downright MOCKING the Government by sending out emails before and after the blasts about how they would do it! Such is the ignominy of Indian state currently!
We have become such poor caretakers of our house.

Serial Blasts in Delhi and fanatic pusillanimity of Indian Central Government!
Five blasts have rocked New Delhi, killing 20 and injuring 90. The Indian Mujahideen – a new version of SIMI – has taken the responsibility for the blasts. The blasts took place in Ghaffar Market (Karol Bagh), Connaught Place (near Gopaldas Bhavan), and GK-I (M block market).. in quick succession.The scourge of Islamic terror is hitting India more and more. And the worst part – for the Government of India – is that these twisted minds from the India Mujhaideen group are sending emails with threats in a brazen manner. It is as if that they are ABSOLUTELY confident that they will not be caught.
This was part of Operation “B-A-D” of these terrorists – Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
In over a dozen such attacks in the last 5 years since the Congress Government came to power NONE have been solved .. EXCEPT once.. and that was Narender Modi‘s efforts.. and had very little to do with Central Government’s efforts!So, obviously the question is why should we Indians even look for people who cannot even handle the terror unleashed on the country and the situation gets SO out of hand that the terrorists can send threats to everyone brazenly and openly! One of the reason is that they know that nothing will really happen to them. And this is what is what puts the citizens of the country at a complete disadvantage and utter weakness!
If the Central Government cannot guarantee the safety for its citizens why should it even be entrusted with the lives of the countrymen and strings of the power??!!

New face of terrorism and the coming storm!
In yet another example of using the technological infrastructure in India to hurt it, the terrorists used a computer in Khalsa College’s computer lab – which was connected to internet (Wi-Fi connected) but was not password protected. So, they used this computer to hack and send the email through it using alarbi.alhindi@gmail.com.
At 7pm, three students were present in the laboratory and were working on their project. Students of biochemistry, computer science and even those doing their PhD use the laboratory. While the laboratory has 12 more machines, only one was connected to internet at that time. The laboratory was closed at 7.45pm, said the police. “The email is similar to several other mails sent on earlier occasions. Our teams are investigating the matter,” said ATS additional commissioner P B Singh.
As I said earlier, that this is not just a terrorist act for the terror’s sake but it hits another bird with that stone – India’s position as a technological power. It has a very sinister element to it and it is imperative that India’s technical companies take this up on war footing.
Just as the rise of India’s technical market started not because of Infosys but because there was a large market full of smaller companies ready to back the big guys up and give them competition, similarly, the fall of the larger powers will also be predicated on the fall of the smaller players!
So, if Infosys, WIPRO, TCS, and Satyam have to keep growing, TODAY they must sit up and take notice. We need to have a strong organization to create a solid and robust security infrastructure that takes care of the loopholes so hacking does not become an easy door for the terrorists!!

After Musharraf, terrorist organizations are back in Pakistan
The terror organizations are back in the open within Pakistan. Lashkar-e-toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad have reopened their offices.
LeT was renames Jamaat-ud-Dawa after being banned had an office in Karachi at Salman Terrace in Gulshan-e-Iqbal near National Stadium while JeM had an office in Manghopir. LeT had opened a new office ay Jamia Darasat al-Islamia opposite Safari Park in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and it has reopened the old office in Salman Terrace back again after Musharraf’s resignation on Monday. The report is by Daily Times.
The Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, now known as Ahle Sunnat-waal-Jamaat Pakistan, had its headquarters at Masjid Siddique-e-Akbar near Nagan Chowrangi in north Karachi. Even after it was banned, it stayed active in the same area.
Though the office remains closed, Sipah leaders have been conducting meetings in the building for the past two days, the paper reported.
