Submission Guidelines

Drishtikone.com is an online magazine that provides unique perspectives on things and issues related to India and Indians.  Our articles and features are serious, humorous, interesting and insightful.

Drishtikone.com is inviting contributions from you on specific topics that lend to our magazine. Please review the guidelines below and send in your articles and writings as per them

All submissions must be original works and those chosen for publication will be credited with a by-line. Authors of works selected for publication will be notified through e-mail only. We regret to inform you that calls regarding submissions will not be entertained and the decision taken by the editorial board will be final.

All the stories should be sent to the following email with “Submission for Drishtikone” in the Subject of the email.


General Guidelines for Submission

All submissions must be in Arial font size 12 and must be Word files (.doc).

Submissions must be accompanies with an Author’s brief – no more than 50 words – and a photograph of the author.  Author details must include full name, and may include information on career briefly, and any accomplishments and writings/publications. All photos submitted will have to be 600 kb or less in size.

Short Stories: Your short stories can be fact or fiction, Please mention the type in your email. The story should be more than 500 words.

Short Poems: You can be as creative as you can and use any genre of poetry to express yourself.  You can share poetry in Punjabi, Hindi or English.

Travelogues: Please write travelogues only on places you have seen and enjoyed personally. You can write on any place within India and also share pictures from your trip.  Please include the details of how to get there and also the different staying and eating options in that area.  At least 4 pictures photos with good resolution should accompany the article. Travelogues should be a minimum of 400 words.

Photo Features:
Photo features are never complete without a theme. The photos have to be yours and not copied from somewhere else. Submissions in this category will need to be at least 10 photos with good resolution, accompanied by a description of about 200 words or more.

Campus Life:  You can discuss any area of the Campus life in India. So, campus life is not just about the events in campus (which we you can also write about) but about the various trials and tribulations, the heart-breaks, the loves, the career dilemmas etc.  It also includes news about students, teachers, and other staff and their extraordinary achievements; for instance, if someone wins a fellowship, competition, or scholarship. These submissions may be accompanied by testimonials and photos. The news item should be 400 words or more.

Sports Stories: You can write stories or match reviews for any sports involving India and / or Indians.  Please write factually and feel free to include your opinions on the game you are reviewing.  Suggested length is 400 words.

Book Reviews: Books chosen for review can be from any genre – fiction or non-fiction.  Just that you must have read it in full. We are looking for reviews of novels, novellas, collections of short stories, management books, poetry collections, anthologies, historical works, philosophical writings, technological writings, and the like. Please include the ISBN number along with the review.  Suggested length of review is 500 words.

Film Reviews:
Films reviews can be of national and international movies of all genres. Please mention the name of the movie, cast, director, producer, music director, and story line, along with your opinion. A poster scan or pictures of some stills from the movie should accompany your review which should be 400 words or more.

Life Experiences, Anecdotes, and Relationships:
Preference will be given for personal, firsthand experiences which can be of interest to others. Positive experiences would be of the essence. The article should be 400 words and may be accompanied with photographs.

Conditions of Submission

•    A writer submitting a piece does so in agreement of the following terms between Drishtikone.com and yourself, known henceforth as the Content Provider:

In submitting a piece for publication, the Content Provider grants to Drishtikone.com a NON-EXCLUSIVE, worldwide, irrevocable, license to reproduce, archive, license, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, create derivative works from, translate, or otherwise use the Content Provider’s content, or any portion thereof, for any purpose whatsoever, including without limitation licensing, distributing, or otherwise providing the content to Third Parties, in any and all mediums now known or developed in the future, in any language, anywhere in the world.

In granting Drishtikone.com a non-exclusive license, the Content Provider does not relinquish copyright ownership of the content, and may sell or distribute it without restriction.
