15 Laws of Lasting Success

For success many things are important.  Intelligence or talent cannot and does not take people to the top or the most satisfying life… honesty of effort and sincerity does.  In this day and age of scandals, scams and economic crash – with few people who have made all the money while the common people have been left with large holes in their wealth, it is almost natural for everyone to believe that deceit takes you to riches.  It might.  But the summit might be very short lived and not much to enjoy there.

So here are 15 laws of success from the old classic by Napolean Hill, an author that kids my generation grew up reading – “The Law of Success”.  Worth taking note of each and every law.  You might just print this thing out!

  • Have a Definite Chief Aim: Do away with aimlessness and choose – fix your heart on – upon a definite, clear goal in life.
  • Self Confidence:  Learn to fight your fears (poverty, Ill Health, Old age, Criticism, Loss of love of Someone, Death) and stay away from egotism.
  • Habit of Saving: Distribute your income systematically so that a definite portion of it can gradually accumulate and multiply – and result in source of personal power.
  • Initiative and Leadership: Become a leader and not a follower in your chosen field of endeavor.. This will develop an instinct of leadership such that you may be #1 in all your undertakings.
  • Imagination: Stimulate your mind to think out of the box and come up with new ideas and develop new ways to attain your Definite Chief Aim.
  • Enthusiasm: It is the base of a pleasing personality and it will help others come on board with you as well.
  • Self Control: Balance your enthusiasm and direct it to take you in the right direction with self confidence and not egotism.
  • Give more than you Get: Always do more than you are paid for.  It will result in increasing returns.  You cannot become a leader unless you practice this basic law.
  • Pleasing Personality: the fulcrum on which the crow-bar of your efforts are placed, such that intelligence can take you to remove obstacles
  • Accurate Thought: Learn to separate FACTS from mere INFORMATION.  Also organize FACTS into two classes: Important and Unimportant.
  • Concentration: Focus on one subject at a time until you have mastered that subject.
  • Co-operation: Never underestimate the value of team work.  Coordinate your efforts with others’ in such a manner that friction, jealousy, strife, envy and cupidity are eliminated.
  • Profit from Failure: Make your past mistakes and failures into stepping stones.  Learn to differentiate between “temporary defeat” and failure.
  • Tolerance: Avoid disastrous effects of prejudices – racial, religious, ethnic etc.
  • Prayer: You cannot attain success in its highest form without the aid of earnest prayer.
