Boxing brings some cheer…

Referee Georgios Kaouris declares Vijender Kumar (R) of India the winner in his Middleweight (75 kg) Round of 32 boxing match against Badou GJ Jack of Gambia at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Saturday, August 9, 2008.

Good news and bad news from the Boxing world in Olympics.  Dinesh Kumar was so far behind against Abdelhafid Benchabla of Algeria that the referee stopped the fight.

On the other hand Vijender Kumar outscored his competition.  He beat Gambia’s Jack Badou by 13-2.  He next meets Chomphuphuang Angkhan of Thailand, who had beaten Vijender in President’s Cup ni Chinese Taipei earlier this year.  Our patha is probably itching to take his revenge, which I hope he does this time!!

Will we see a win at the Olympics in boxing?
