Now, detect forged documents: Courtesy Indian techie

Those using fake and forged documents in the U.S. can now be traced easily, thanks to a new software developed by Dr. Gaurav Gupta from Kurukshetra in Haryana. The software and methodology developed by Dr. Gupta helps to identify and quantify imperfections and lead investigators to the devices used for producing fake documents and digital signatures.

According to Dr. Gupta, the perpetrators of such crimes were ignorant of the fact that the imperfection was unique to each device. “The system will help us locate the source and even the scanner and printer used to commit the forgery,” he said. Recently, the young 30-year-old scientist was honored by the former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, during the 97th Indian Science Congress at Thiruvananthapuram.
