UAE builds village in flood-hit Pakistan

An ‘Emirates Village’ for the flood victims was inaugurated on Monday in northwest Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Addressing an opening ceremony, Chairman of the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Authority (RCA) Ahmed Humaid Al Mazruoie said that the UAE would offer more relief assistance to the flood victims in Pakistan to alleviate their suffering.

He said that about $8 million project, jointly funded by the RCA and UN High Commissioner for Refugees, will build 20,000 tents accommodating 140,000 homeless people. ”The housing village will be completed by mid-November,” he added.
