Flight #666 lands in HEL on Friday, the 13th!

Paraskevidekatriaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th.  From the story of Jesus’ last supper where 13 people were in the “Upper Room” on the 13th of Nisan Maundy Thursday, on the night before Christ was crucified.  However, the beginning of both – Friday and 13th being used in conjunction as an unlucky superstition probably can be said to have started in the 19th century.

Btw, the fear of #13 is called triskaidekaphobia.  From 2017 to 2020, each year will have two Friday the 13th days.  Yesterday was one of this year’s.

This superstition was “celebrated” in a rather interesting way by Finnair!  A flight with an interesting number 666 took off on Friday, the 13th 2017 from Copenhagen (CPH) and landed in HEL – err.. Helsinki at 13:00

As the Finnair tweet said, not only did the flight fly on Friday the 13th but even the aircraft was a 13 year old machine!

Flight 666

There are many aircrafts in the industry where even the row #13 is never there!  And there are buildings built with the floor # 13 not even there.  In such a superstition ridden culture about 13 and Friday, the 13th, it is quite refreshing that someone chose to rubbish it in such a spectacular way.
