Katju vs Dr. Swamy legal debate on Sanjay Dutt case: Honestly, was Katju really a Judge??!

I know many people do not like Arnab Goswami, but he does come equipped with information and does his research.  At least that is something that you cannot take away from him.   Here is the debate on the legal points between Dr. Subramaniam Swamy and Justice Markandey Katju.

Given his outbursts, Katju is a complete misfit to be the head of Press Council of India – damaging the credibility, non-partisan nature, and integrity of the organization and the status of press also by relation.  But in this debate, he displays a remarkably poor and incompetent understanding and ability to debate legalities of this case as well.  He is constantly hassled if someone counter-questions him and his only arguments are non-legal, vague, personal opinions and have nothing to do with law.

When you look at Dr. Swamy’s arguments where he brings in the legal points – specially citing that judgment where Supreme Court Justice had laid down the precept of “Public Good” – and the other discussion around the various cases, you see no worthy debate from Justice Katju.

I am not sure about you, but why do I get the feeling that this Katju dude just stumbled into the courts as a Justice.  He doesn’t seem to have much knowledge to justify it in a debate.   And, a debate which HE himself has started.  If you have put in your entire life in this profession at the helm of affairs in the highest courts of the land, then you better come up with better treatment of case laws and discussion on legal aspects as opposed to baseless opinionated rhetoric!

Just one last suggestion for the Katju dude – this world is NOT your court.  There you can get away with incompetence and rhetoric and bullying.  Not the world.  You better get your shit in place before you jump into a debate.  Remember – those who argue by the yard, but present by the inch, should be kicked by the foot!
