Over 100,000 Americans from 20 states are petitioning to SECEDE from the United States of America. Must have been sponsored by China? Or Al Qaeda? Right?!!
Naaaaah! Because they VOTED for Mitt Romney, and their little pup lost the race. Fairly and Squarely, one might add.
When I was a kid we would play cricket in our street. I remember this dude who owned a bat, which was a big thing for us little ones. Now, we would all be passionately playing and suddenly his turn to bat would come and nervousness would be palpable in the street. Because if he got out early, he would take his bat and run away! So, we would be gentle with him. Until one day, we all contributed and got a new bat. Then he didn’t know what hit him. He couldn’t play more than one over! 🙂
Republicans are like that kid. If they get out, they want to run away with the bat! And we have discussed this later in context of Donald Trump’s presidency – How Republicans (America’s “Poor man’s Pakistan Army”) can bring down American Democracy
The most popular petition is from Texas, where yours truly lives. Heck, that’s scary! Real scary!
Most of the petitions merely quote the opening line of America’s Declaration of Independence from Britain, in which America’s founders stated their right to “dissolve the political bands” and form a new nation.
Currently, the most popular petition is from Texas, which voted for Mr Romney by some 15 percentage points more than it did for the Democratic incumbent.
A newsletter went out from treasurer of the Hardin County Republican Party in Texas, Peter Morrison where he is advocating an Amicable Divorce between those who voted for Mitt Romney and the “maggots” who voted for Obama! He further states in his newsletter:
“They’ re-elected Obama last night. He is their President. And we must admit to ourselves at some point, it is now their country. Just as Scotland is currently contemplating her own independence from Great Britain, it is time for the more conservative constituent parts of this country to consider whether this sacred union is really quite so sacred anymore…
“In this respect, Texas can lead the way. Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state. We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years.”
Guess Obama is BANG on the money when he says Education is the need of the hour for the Americans. One wishes that someone can come and teach them the MEANING of Democracy in the first place. Can we get someone from Iraq, shall we? Because, in any case, as Fareed Zakaria rightly states – American democracy is archaic, broken and inefficient. He didn’t say it, but he almost meant that it is a shade above a Sham democracy!
So, its not surprising that so many Republicans should suddenly come up with this idea of seceding from the country.
