Insightful newsletter of Drishtikone - Issue #13
As a kid, I remember how embarrassed I was made to feel to even have a tilak on my forehead on the morning of Raksha Bandhan. Those were the subtle ways in which the Hindu identity in India was being destroyed gradually. And, that attack has only changed its ways, its mechanism. Let us see how.
“Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.” ― Blaise Pascal
Yesterday we saw in the interview with Smriti Irani, when TimesNow’s Navika Kumar tries to brush away the expression of Hindu identity, Ms Irani clarifies. She asserts that the Indian constitution gives her the right to express herself, her religion, her ways openly. So who the heck is Navika Kumar to tell her not to?
For many years now, Hindus - remember how Leftists with Soviet (and Chinese) take over of Indian polity were ruling the elites? - have been made to be ashamed of their culture.
Meanwhile, it was perfectly acceptable for everyone else to express, even force their ways on the others. So, that interjection by Smriti Irani was in many ways, a turning point in the Indian system.
As an administrator, the head of a state - a politicians - is expected to care for every citizen and their right to religion. But, it was only faux-secularism that forced the Hindu politicians to “act Muslim” to appease a certain section.
Yogi Adityanath is another politician who is very clear about this. He will ensure that people of all the faiths live freely and celebrate their festivals well, but he will not go around celebrating festivals that do not align with his own value system or faith. And, for that, he has full rights as a citizen.
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on the floor of the house on Tuesday that he was a Hindu and hence he had no reason to celebrate Eid.
That is real secularism. Every citizen, including a politician, have full right to their faith, without imposing it on anyone.
Something, that you cannot say about Pakistan.

No other country in the last 200 years has killed as many Muslims as Pakistan has. From the massacres in Bangladesh to those in Balochistan, the list is endless. Yet, Pakistan accuses India of Islamophobia. Let us look at their hatred for “not their type of Muslims” in more detail.

tinted and bigoted windows
Google searches are the window to the world of information on this planet. But is this window transparent? Or is it tinted? How much?
We find that it is not just tinted, it may actually be bigoted. The minds behind its algorithms are doing something that can only parallel the acts of PR machinery of Hitler. Read…
Google searches are the world’s window to knowledge and information. If that window is tinted in a certain color and prejudice then the world will be judged and seen differently. Khilji example – Biased Google Searches or outright bigotry? I recently wrote an article on Alauddin Khilji, a bigoted tyrant who as per the chronicles
The sources of news and information in the mainstream media are also compromised. Here is an example of an image that went viral yesterday when an NDTV journalist shared it to show the buses that had been donated by the Congress for the UP migrants. Even when NDTV had used the same image during the kumbh at Prayagraj to talk about a Guinness world record!
