Music is sound. So is noise. As is shouting.

Most modern music is of the body and the mind. It is used to express one’s sorrow, anguish, happiness, anger and even hatred. That may be music for your and others who want to sync up at the emotional level with your thoughts, but the Indian classical musicians went beyond one’s body and emotions.

They looked at the very basis of this existence. Modern physicists have been fascinated by the relationship between the harmonies that underlie music and science, specifically in the quantum realm.

When the French physicist Louis de Broglie proposed the wave nature of electrons and other matter particles, he may very well have had musical harmonics in mind. De Broglie showed how the different energy levels of Niels Bohr’s atomic model emerged naturally by describing electrons as standing waves of various frequencies, thereby generalizing the wave theory of light to material particles. This aligns very closely with how the Indian spiritual traditions have looked at music. And more importantly, how the Indian classical music was brought together. Sadhguru explains the ancient wisdom with respect to the Indian classical music.

This is because the human system is a certain design and pattern. There is a certain geometry to it and there is a reverberation attached. Similarly, if you look at a tree, there is a certain reverberation attached to it. If you can feel that reverberation, we call this state as rithambara pragna. Rithambara pragna means you become conscious of the relationship between form and sound. If you perceive the sound from a form, you learn to use this sound in different ways to describe this form, and to touch and experience this form just by uttering a sound. This sound, in its technical manifestation, is called a mantra. In its aesthetic manifestation, it is called music. (Source)

Indian music legend Pandit Jasraj leaves

Pandit Jasraj passed into history. A legend in his own lifetime. He left the body at the age of 90. He has given so much to the Indian classical music that it is very tough to do full justice to his work. Many still remember his amazing jugalbandhi with the other maestro Bhimsen Joshi from the movie Birbal My Brother ( 1970s)

Here is the audio of that rare and divine piece.

Pt Bhimsen Joshi & Jasraj - Malkauns

A very informative documentary was created some years back with late Amrish Puri as the main ‘sutradhaar’. This is another one of those videos that one should watch.

Sadhana - Pt Jasraj

Little known was this obscure song Panditji sung in a 2008 movie with music composed by Adnan Sami. The only such song. The song - Vaada Tumse Hai Vaada, was composed by Adnan Sami in Vikram Bhatt’s horror movie, 1920 (2008)

which Muslim is safe where?

In Iran, Sunnis are killed on a regular basis (check here, here, and here). Shias in Saudi Arabia are dealt with even worse (check here, here and here).

The situation in Pakistan is no different. A Shia doesn’t need to be in a riot prone area to be killed.

He is killed within the confines of his own mosque will offering namaz. Thank you very much!

Ahmadis are worse. If they as much as greet anyone with “Salam Alaikum”, or say they are going to their “masjid”, they can be killed due to blasphemy, by the laws enacted by the state with the backing of the Pakistani Constitution!

And, the irony is that foundation principles of Pakistan were enunciated by an Ahmadi himself. An Ahmadi named Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan.

In 1949, an Objectives Resolution was passed by the Constituent Assembly. This resolution defined the foundational principle for Pakistan’s Constitution. It clearly stated what will be supreme in Pakistan in terms of law and constitutional supremacy. The architect of the Objectives Resolution, therefore, was Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan. The main foundation principles he defined were:

  1. Sovereignty belongs to Allah alone but He has delegated it to the State of Pakistan through its people for being exercised within the limits prescribed by Him as a sacred trust.
  2. The State shall exercise its powers and authority through the chosen representatives of the people.
  3. The principles of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice, as enunciated by Islam, shall be fully observed.
  4. Muslims shall be enabled to order their lives in the individual and collective spheres in accordance with the teachings of Islam as set out in the Quran and Sunnah.
  5. Adequate provision shall be made for the minorities to freely profess and practice their religions and develop their cultures.
  6. Pakistan shall be a federation.
  7. Fundamental rights shall be guaranteed.
  8. The judiciary shall be independent.

Look at the principles #1, #3 and #4. What he set into motion ultimately engulfed his entire community.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan passed on September 7, 1974, under the Government of Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who declared Ahmadis as non-Muslims.

This was further strengthened by Ordinance XX promulgated under General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq on 26 April 1984 which barred the Ahmadis from practicing Muslim observances. The ordinance resulted in an amendment to the Pakistan Penal Code to add sections 298-B and 298-C. Subsection B prevents Ahmadis from using certain Muslim epithets, descriptions, and titles, while subsection C prevents Ahmadis from calling themselves Muslims. It comes with a punishment of 3 years imprisonment and fine.

The ordinance debars use of any honorific titles and modes of address deemed specific to the Islamic community such as the greeting “As-salamu alaykum” (peace be upon you), reciting the Six Kalimas or the shahada (declaring belief in the oneness of God and the prophethood of Muhammad) etc., from building mosques and calling the Adhan (call to prayer), from undertaking Muslim modes of worship, from worshipping in non-Ahmadi mosques or public prayer rooms, and from making any citations from the Quran and Muhammad’s hadith (source – Trespasses of the State, Ministering to Theological Dilemmas through the Copyright/Trademark, Naveeda Khan, Sarai Reader, 2005; Bare Acts. Page 178)

But the fact is that most of the Ahmadiyyas have been charged under the draconian Blasphemy law. A provision was added in 1986 where the Ahmadiyyas were also covered under the Blasphemy law.

Pakistan’s “Blasphemy Law,” as Section 295-C of the Penal Code is known, makes the death penalty mandatory for blasphemy. Under this law, the Ahmadi belief in the prophethood of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is considered blasphemous insofar as it “defiles the name of Prophet Muhammad.” In 2006, at least 25 Ahmadis were charged under various provisions of the blasphemy law across Pakistan. Many of these individuals remain in prison. (source)

understanding Aamir Khan's ignorance and hate

This is how the Islamic world functions. Sunnis so Shia genocide in Sunni majority countries. Shias do Sunni genocide in Shia dominant countries. And both do Ahmadi genocide in every Islamic country.

Interestingly, India is the ONLY country in the world where Sunnis, Shias and Ahmadis can follow their ways without persecution. So, how is it that Shias and Ahmadis can practice their faith and their ways in India?

We discussed in our Issue #95 that India and Pakistan have been the greatest Social laboratory experiment in the world.

Same background, same history, same ways - yet such different levels of tolerance?

If as great a luminary Sir Mohammad Zafarullah could not set the direction of Pakistan in a direction that could lend itself to acceptance of diversity, while another legal luminary BR Ambedkar could, then it means they had very different societies which nurtured their work and constitutions.

Shias and Ahmadis in India are not free because the Muslims or the Islamic scholars have allowed them to be so, it is because the majority Hindus which have ensured that the Islamic sectarian hatred cannot triumph over a Constitution of acceptance and lawful society. Otherwise, Darul uloom has already declared that Ahmadis and Shias are kafirs and should be killed.

For 70 years these very mullahs have been progressively strengthened by those who call themselves “secular”, leading to cases like Shah Bano where Supreme Court judgment was over-ruled by the executive for appeasement. If this appeasement secularism was allowed to continue, is there any doubt that the powerful clergy of India would do what they did in Pakistan? Remember, “all factors being equal, change one variable”.

That appeasement secularism has been reversed in the last 6 years. Clergy no longer have a ‘mai-baap’ in the establishment. They cannot do a Shah Bano anymore. Which means that the threat that Darul uloom carries in its words and hearts - will not find expression on the ground.

Which means, India remains a country which will provide Muslims of all hues - a world to practice their faith and ways. Unlike every Islamic country on this planet.

So, when people talk about Muslims having power in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or Iran - one must ask - Which Muslim?

Turkey is now led by a man Erdogan who wants to reverse its own Secular fabric created by Kemal Ataturk and set the stage for the Caliphate which does what the Islamic countries have been doing - just on a larger scale.

So, when you see the video below of how Aamir Khan discusses the “comfort and the atmosphere of fear” - you can only feel sympathy at his ignorance and indignation at his exceptional Islamophobia - his hatred for the “other Muslim”.

For, that “other Muslim” is safe in India simply because the Muslim appeasing seculars no longer hold the strings to the establishments power!

did Aamir Khan commit treason?

For any system of governance to work, it is imperative that we have clear roles and responsibilities of the various institutions and arms of the government. Also, who can represent, create geopolitical strategy and interact with friendly and hostile powers globally on behalf of the country?

That is why it is rather disconcerting that many people have suggested equivalence between the interaction of Rahul Gandhi with the Chinese government or Pakistani ambassador as happened during Doklam and in that meeting at Mani Shankar Aiyar’s home, with the meetings and parleys by the Central government with China and Pakistan.

There is no equivalence.

In fact, Rahul Gandhi or any other individual, whosoever, s/he may be, cannot represent India or interact with the other powers on any topic or issue of official relevance, specifically with hostile powers, as China during Doklam and Pakistan were.

In the US, there is something called a Logan Act. Logan Act criminalizes negotiation by unauthorized American citizens with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States.

Also, in context of Aamir Khan meeting Erdogan in his private capacity, US law also has precedence. Under Section 953 with respect to “private correspondence with foreign governments” under the Criminal Procedure Code, it is unlawful for any individual to interact with an intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government.

We are in a situation where Turkey is influencing the terror situation in India.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has allocated huge funds to the Turkish intelligence to radicalize Indian Muslims with the help of preachers recruited from surrendered ISIS cadres. (Source)

Also, for years the government in Turkey had been funding separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Kashmir, as per the intelligence reports. (Source)

Therefore, per the current intelligence assessment, Turkey can be considered to be a hostile government.

Unless Aamir Khan discussed his trip to Turkey with the Indian intelligence and it was part of a plan by the Indian agencies, his act - if the laws in Western countries like US’ Logan Act and Criminal Procedure are applied - would tantamount to treason or at least criminal behavior.

We have chosen a democratic system. There is only one government that can represent us and it is headed by a Prime Minister. No one else, however distinguished or privileged he or she may feel, cannot represent India in front of any foreign government. Specifically the hostile ones.

And, of course we haven’t talked at all of those who are not Muslims - this or that type. For those others - the kafirs - this is what happened and is proudly defended by the faithful ones even today. The person who tweeted this is a Pakistani living in Europe.

tantra and sexuality

Tantra is a very different way to approach the Ultimate. Occult that has often accompanied Tantra has been shunned by most Masters. Tantra literally means a technique or a technology. The way the Masters explored it, this was rooted in the body but using the body to its utmost. When West met Tantra, all it could gather was sex. It couldn’t look beyond its own mind-maps. Sadhguru discusses about it in an article as well.

What is Tantra Yoga? Definitely Orgasmic, But Not Sexual

Tantra is a much misunderstood practice. Far from being unbridled sexuality as it is being portrayed, tantra yoga is a way of using your energies to reach the ultimate union.s
