The Grapes of Wrath are Growing Heavy As the Entitled and Powerful Steal from the Unborn

There is a crime happening.  A crime that defies denunciation.  Perpetuating sorrow that no amount of weeping by the poor can ever symbolize.  Kids go to bed hungry.  Pregnant women go hungry and give shape to a malnourished and inadequate generation ahead.  All because Rahul Gandhi and Congress can fulfill their hunger for power.  A power that has given nothing but that hunger to the kid, the pregnant woman in the last 70 years of India’s independence.

John Steinbeck wrote in “The Grapes of Wrath”:

“There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And the children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill the certificates – died of malnutrition – because the food must rot, must be forced to rot.

The food must rot.  It must be made to rot.  The poor must die.  She must be made to die!

Yesterday, newschannels broke the story of how the notings in a diary of a Congress functionary showed the sources from where the moneys were stolen to send to the headquarters of the Indian National Congress.

PM Modi’s remarks came in the light of the documents accessed by Republic TV on Tuesday that comprised dairy notings recovered from a Congress functionary. The diary carried values of funds in lakhs, against various state government departments and schemes including- PWD, excise, mining, transport, Po Aahar, energy, etc, on one side, and on another note, ‘expenses’, including with mentions of ‘PCC’ and ‘DELHI-AICC’.

The Public Exchequer money from 8 government departments in Madhya Pradesh was diverted for the Congress campaign. The breakdown of funds siphoned from various government departments (in lakhs) is this:

Aahar (pregnant women) : 520
Transport : 554
Excise (MP) : 3622
Mid day meal : 197
Mining : 550
PWD : 520
Urban : 430
Energy department :100

TimesNow reporting on the whole story of stealing from the poor.

And the Republic TV coverage breaks it down per different areas from where the moneys were stolen.

It is now alleged that Kamal Nath gave Rs 1000 crores to the Indian National Congress for their election campaign!  All this was money stolen from different programs.

You see, there is an impunity with which the whole looting happens.  While these guys loot, the intellectuals, the artists, the actors and the stand-ups are busy trying to tell the people to look elsewhere.  This is not important.  What is important is that their livelihood based on entitlements bought by money stolen from the poor is at risk!

When Amartya Sen does not get plush postings for free or Swara Bhasker does not get the limelight despite being a non-performer for simply essaying scripted political messages paid for by the moneys stolen from a poor boy who will not get his mid day meal or a pregnant woman who cannot nourish her unborn anymore; there is a crime unspeakable being committed.  That crime stems from entitlement and dastardly lies.

Some say BJP knew of the raid.  Does that excuse make the pain of the hungry kid any lesser?  Does that absolve the criminal of the unspeakable crime?  Does that mean such a crime should never have been investigated or caught?  What?!

Maybe that was the idea.

The entitled, the rich, the powerful of the vintage power circles not just want to steal from the unborn kid but also want to ensure that no one can even know of their crime.  Leave alone punishing it.

Because, you see, profit cannot be made from the well-fed.  For the entitled to profit, the poor must die.  They must be made to die.

A wrath is in the making.  A wrath of those unborn.  Those going hungry so long that it does not even matter anymore.  Those who have lost hope.

…and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.”

The grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy.
