Belgium has no Government for last 6 months!

Belgium has a strange problem – it has had no Government for last 6 months.  Why? Because there is no consensus on which way to go!  French and Dutch speakers; LIberals and Conservatives have issues with each other.

IN my view, it speaks to the resilience of the country and people that the country is working without a Government!  Wonder how the US will be if there was no President for 6 months!?

On the other hand, it is indicative of the deep divide and the storm that is coming!

“The splitting of the country is the only alternative, the only answer to the problems we have at the moment,” said Filip Dewinter, leader of the nationalist Flemish Interest party.
He called for a referendum on the country’s future. “Political parties don’t seem to have a solution any more, so let the people decide,” Dewinter told a weekend party congress. “Let them decide and let’s organize a referendum about the splitting up of the country, about Flemish independence.”

Now, that is a scary reason for showing “resilience”!  In some ways, it is also a harbinger of things to come in Europe and the US… there is a divide – between the conservatives and the Liberals.  The divide is widening.  The arguments are damning and noisy.  Battle in Belgium has gone to a negative side now.  So negative that the two sides cannot/may not stay together.  Is that a sign of tomorrow?
